Jane Fancher

Jane Suzanne Fancher (born 1952) is a science fiction and fantasy author and artist. She has published six science fiction and fantasy novels as well as two short stories.
==Work==
In the early 1980s she worked for Warp Graphics as an art assistant on ''Elfquest'', providing inking assistance on the black and white comics and coloring on Books 2 and 3 of the original graphic novel reprints. Subsequent reprint editions have omitted her name from the art credits, and later graphic novel editions have used different coloring.
She was also the creator of the graphic novel adaptation of C. J. Cherryh's ''Gate of Ivrel'', the first novel in Cherryh's ''Morgaine'' series. This originally began as a self-published black & white comic book that only appeared for one issue (1985). Later Fancher expanded the material in color for professional publication as a series of graphic novels. The series includes ''Gate of Ivrel: No. 1'' (the black & white version), plus the two color issues: ''Gate of Ivrel: Claiming Rites'' (1986) and ''Gate of Ivrel: Fever Dreams'' (1987). All three graphic novels were done in collaboration with C. J. Cherryh. Although the series was cut short halfway through the story, this led to Jane becoming an author herself, as well as frequent professional collaboration, a close friendship and romantic relationship.
Fancher's books include the "Groundties" series, as well as the "Dance of the Rings" trilogy: ''Ring of Lightning'' (1995); ''Ring of Intrigue'' (1997), and ''Ring of Destiny'' (1999). A fourth book in the series is being written.
The original "Groundties" trilogy (''Groundties'', ''Uplink'', ''Harmonies of the 'Net'') was published in e-book form in 2011, and is undergoing a re-write by Fancher (2011/2012).〔(Jane Fancher's blog entry about an UpLink review )〕 There's also a prequel, entitled the "'NetWalkers".〔
Fancher, Cherryh and author Lynn Abbey run an online publishing house, Closed Circle, to market their own work.〔http://www.closed-circle.net/ Closed Circle〕
